Nurturing children and families since 1970.
Ensuring access for all learners to grow and thrive.
Family Child Development Center (FCDC) is a nonprofit early childhood education and child care center conveniently located near the 394 corridor in Plymouth, MN.
Started in 1970 as part of a church outreach program, FCDC’s community members formed our independent non-profit in the 1990s to continue its mission to serve children and families. Their mission statement was based on “A Vision for Our Children” by the Carnegie Council on Children, which envisions a society where we put children first.
Play-based learning in a family-oriented environment.
Our program has deep roots in nurturing children through play-based learning in a family-oriented environment, which continues to guide our educational philosophy to this day. We believe when children are invited to experience exceptional play-based learning, they develop the capacity to cooperate with others, problem solve, and express their unique selves so they become curious, engaged citizens.
Over the years, our non-profit status has continued to guide us. We are committed to ensuring more children and families have access to exceptional play-based learning by creating a community model for this teaching philosophy so all early learners can grow and thrive.
“FCDC is a special space! We have sent all 3 of our children there and love the teachers and community!”
